What are some things I can do to make my life with dementia more tolerable?

There are several approaches that can be explored. Some medications help slow down the progression. Managing pain and illness makes a difference in mental abilities and overall wellbeing. People who join our support groups or engage in hobbies report that they feel less like a “patient” and more valuable as a person. People who use a reliable routine to manage their daily commitments experience less stress, a stronger sense of control and increased independence. Several people I know have found diets that help them minimize their symptoms. Finally, almost everyone I talk with reports that counting their blessings or looking at the half full part of the glass makes the biggest difference in their quality of life.
